DRAMATIC NEW THERMOSTATIC SHOWER

8th November 2006

Thermostatic shower completes Drummonds' bathroom range

I wanted to create a feeling of being caught in a downpour. There are many large showerheads in the marketplace, but The Dalby stands out against the competition in looks, scale and craftsmanship.
Drummond Shaw, company founder
Drummonds has launched its first thermostatic shower to complete its range of classically designed bathroom products. Discerning consumers can now equip their entire bathroom with everything from one of Drummonds' superb baths to its handmade chinaware and taps.

Dalby thermostatic shower with Shamrock shower headDalby Thermostatic ShowerThe Dalby Thermostatic Shower takes its inspiration from the striking controls in great public baths, such as the stunning Victoria Baths in Manchester, made famous by the BBC's Restoration programme. The Dalby has been designed by company founder, Drummond Shaw, who wanted to create a truly extravagant shower in terms of scale and design, which was at home in both contemporary and traditional settings. Product designer, Steve Thompson took these ideas and translated them into a pattern and models to inspire Drummonds' manufacturing workshops where the brass was cast.

The Shamrock head is particularly complex, as individual arms deliver water from the supply to each of the three rose heads.

The finished result offers Drummonds' customers the choice of two stunning showerheads — the Dalby Shamrock triple rose or the Dalby Thistle with its distinctive prickle effect surround. With rose diameters of 380mm and 300mm respectively, customers are guaranteed a thorough dousing.

There is an attractive tactility about the dramatically large and solid regulator which has a degree of industrial heritage popular among many of the most contemporary residential fitments.

The same design flair and quality which defines the Drummonds bathroom collection is evident throughout The Dalby Thermostatic Shower. Drummond Shaw explains, "We are the only company in the UK still to use the lost wax process for all our brassware products. This allows us to design exceptionally complex taps and showers, because each element is individually made and assembled by our own craftsmen. When people buy from Drummonds, they place due worth on the exquisite engineering of the pieces."
