It takes Drummonds more than a month to make every piece of brass door furniture and brass window furniture. Each item in this extensive range is made in solid brass by hand, using the lost wax process, which requires time, patience and skill.
To make each component, an original is first made in wax from a master mould. This wax original copy is next encased in hard casting plaster, and then the wax is melted away - 'lost' - ready to take the molten brass. After cooling and being removed from the mould, processing begins on the brass casting.
Each piece is drilled, threaded, cut and polished and only then assembled into the final product. In keeping with tradition, brass is not lacquered, allowing items to age gracefully. As an alternative, nickel or chrome plated finishes are available on many patterns.
The resulting collections of fine brass door furniture will fit perfectly with any style or age of property. In the event that existing designs are not quite right for your property and you require something different, Drummonds can help by making copies from your original sample or drawings.
All Drummonds' door furniture and window furniture is supplied with the appropriate screws.
